SITTING = EDEMA = SWELLING = DEADLY
Sitting is deadly. It'll kill you. The rapidly accumulating evidence is scary. I'll talk more about it next Saturday live on the radio. In the mean time a few tips if your job is sedentary:
- Set an alarm on your computer to remind you that you need to get up and move about every hour.
- Stand during coffee breaks and telephone calls.
- Use the stairs in your office minimum every two hours even if it's only to go up and down a single flight.
- Stretch your neck, back every few hours.
Sitting is the new smoking. This means you gotta be active and sit less, way, way less.
WHAT IS THIS?
What is this? His brain spilling through his skull? Find out on the show tomorrow...also anxiety affects us all even the bravest of us...cranberry juice - good for bladder infections??...don't sit, STAND...and as always your calls.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG ADDICTION KILLS & DESTROYS LIVES & FAMILIES
We spend $15 billion dollars a year fighting illegal drugs. A lot of this money is spent abroad. Meanwhile in the US we have a death every 19 minutes from legal prescription narcotics. That's not a typo. One death every 19 minutes. This is a problem we need to address now. Shifting some of the money from the failed "war on drugs" to treatment for prescription narcotics would be a great start.
Above and below is Jaclyn Kinkade. This is the woman I talked about on the show yesterday. Read her story here.
Some thoughts on prescription narcotics:
- No such thing as a pain free life. Doesn't exist. Some aches and pains are part of everyday life. Accept it.
- If prescribed narcotics, ask yourself, do you really need them.
- If you do really need narcotics, use them for the shortest possible time.
- Look for non-narcotic ways to control your pain e.g. a combo of Tylenol and ibuprofen, physical therapy.
- if you have multiple docs prescribing you narcotics you already have a problem. Get help.
- Prescription narcotics and alcohol don't mix well and frequently leads to tragedy.
ADDICTION...ADDICTION...ADDICTION

ALL HOSPITALS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL
Not all hospitals are created equal. Going to the wrong hospital could cost you your life. It pays to check them out in advance. This is a very useful site or calhospitalcompare.org for hospital comparison. Use it.
More on the vital statistics of hospitals on Dr. Chambers On Call on KFWB News Talk 980 6-8 AM tomorrow Saturday September 23rd.
