As I mentioned on last week's show the currently available IUD's are radically different and safer than the one's available back in the day. This is a great article and sums up all you need to know. IUD's are extremely effective in preventing pregnancy, better than the birth control pill, BUT do not protect against STD's. If you're not in a monogamous relationship condoms are still an additional must.

This article on contraception is a must read for every couple. Three quick points: IUD's and hormonal implants are virtually 100% effective, today's IUD is not your mom's and don't forget safe sex. If you're not in a monogamous relationship you still must use a condom even if e.g. you have an IUD. You gotta protect yourself. STD's are still out there. I treat them every week.
