Protein options on a vegetarian diet.

Several emails regarding my answer yesterday on Soy as a supplement.  I was  talking about the supplement not soya beans/tofu which of course is a wonderful source of plant protein. There are lots of other protein options on a vegetarian diet including legumes e.g. chick peas, lentils, nuts like almonds and walnuts. Best to use a combo and be careful, it's easy to put on weight with things like nuts - 60% of their calories come from fat. Finally, vitamin supplements are a must on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet especially vitamin B12 and if you live where the sun doesn't shine a lot like Ireland, vitamin D.
